Knee Pain Physiotherapy in Surrey
Knee pain can begin after an injury, build gradually with activity, or affect everyday tasks such as stairs, squatting and walking. We assess your symptoms, movement, strength and goals before building an individualized rehabilitation plan.
When knee pain affects daily life
Knee symptoms vary and do not always point to one diagnosis. An assessment can help clarify which activities are limited and what may be contributing.
- Pain with stairs, squatting, kneeling or prolonged sitting
- Swelling, stiffness or reduced movement
- Pain after a twist, fall or sports activity
- Reduced confidence with walking, running or changing direction
- Gradual-onset pain after a change in activity
How physiotherapy may help
Your care is based on assessment findings and meaningful goals, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Exercise and strength
A progressive program for the hip, knee and lower leg based on your current capacity.
Load and activity planning
Practical guidance for pacing and gradually rebuilding tolerance for work, daily life or sport.
Hands-on care when appropriate
Manual therapy may be used alongside exercise when it supports movement and function.
What happens at your first visit?
We review how symptoms started, swelling, previous injuries, activity changes and the tasks that matter to you. Assessment may include knee and hip movement, strength, balance and functional tasks. Imaging is not automatically required for every presentation; referral is discussed when clinically appropriate.
A plan built around your goals
Your plan may target stairs, walking, work, gym activity, field or court sport, or preparation for and recovery after surgery. Progress is reviewed and exercises are advanced according to your response.
WellCare offers free plaza parking, elevator access and direct billing for many eligible plans and claims.
Knee pain physiotherapy FAQs
Can physiotherapy help gradual-onset knee pain?
Physiotherapy may help identify modifiable strength, movement and activity factors and develop a gradual exercise plan. The approach depends on your assessment.
Do I need an X-ray or MRI first?
Not every episode of knee pain requires imaging. A physiotherapist can screen the injury and recommend medical assessment when imaging may change management.
What may knee rehabilitation include?
A plan may include education, activity modification, mobility work, strengthening, balance and a graded return to meaningful activities.
Can you help after knee surgery?
Yes. Rehabilitation can follow your surgeon’s protocol and focus on swelling, movement, strength and function. Bring any post-operative instructions to your visit.
