Foot & Heel Pain Physiotherapy in Surrey
Foot and heel pain can limit standing, walking, work and sport. We assess where and when symptoms occur, recent activity changes, mobility, strength and load tolerance before recommending a personalized plan.
Foot and heel symptom patterns
Pain location alone does not confirm a diagnosis. Plantar heel pain, Achilles-region symptoms and other foot or ankle conditions can overlap and require individual assessment.
- Pain under the heel or through the arch
- Pain with the first steps after rest
- Achilles-region pain or stiffness
- Symptoms after increased standing, walking or running
- Reduced foot or ankle mobility and confidence
How physiotherapy may help
Your plan is based on the assessment, symptom irritability and the activities you want to return to.
Strength and load tolerance
Progressive calf, foot and lower-limb exercise based on your current capacity and goals.
Mobility and movement
Foot, ankle and lower-limb movement is assessed in the context of walking and functional tasks.
Footwear and activity context
We discuss relevant footwear and activity changes without relying on universal product prescriptions.
What happens at your first visit?
We review symptom location, first-step pain, standing and walking demands, training changes and relevant health history. Assessment may include foot and ankle mobility, calf and foot strength, balance, walking and task-specific loading.
A plan built around your goals
Your plan may target comfortable first steps, longer standing at work, walking, hiking or a gradual return to running. Education, exercise and load planning form the foundation; other options are considered only when appropriate.
WellCare offers free plaza parking, elevator access and direct billing for many eligible plans and claims.
Foot and heel pain physiotherapy FAQs
Is all heel pain plantar fasciitis?
No. Pain under the heel is often called plantar heel pain or plantar fasciitis, but other conditions can produce similar symptoms. Assessment helps guide the plan.
Why are my first steps painful?
First-step pain after sleep or rest is common with plantar heel pain, but it is not enough on its own to confirm a diagnosis.
What may rehabilitation include?
Care may include education, temporary activity adjustments, mobility work and progressive strengthening for the foot, calf and lower limb.
Should I change my shoes?
Footwear can be one part of the overall context. Recommendations should account for comfort, activity and assessment findings rather than a single shoe rule.
